Project Summary

Selected design work from Atlanta's NPR affiliate, WABE. The marketing/ promotional work ranges from social media to campaigns & complete re-brands. The goal is to always stay within the brand guidelines while working to create designs that are fresh, modern, and engaging.

Jazz with Joe

The team wanted something fun to match with the name. I experimented with custom type and worn paper texture to create a fun, vintage feel. The purple, horizontal layout is the final promotional piece.

The Upside of Jazz

For The Upside of Jazz podcast, I tried to implement the graphic of the piano used in previous assets, but the team wanted something more universal. An image was chosen to indicate a more serious tone and help encapsulate the wide range of topics the podcast covers.

Beyond Pride

I wanted want to keep WABE's Pride Month campaign fresh and simple without taking too much away from the reporting. To achieve this, I used the rainbow colors from the WABE color palette while also incorporating the wave pattern. The wave pattern evokes the shape and movement of the LGBTQ+ flag while keeping the design clean. This pattern could then be applied to a number of photos to be used as header throughout the month of June.

Buried Truths Season 5

The Buried Truths Season 5 podcast covers the wrongful death of Rev. Clarence Horatious Pickett, a black man who was a victim of medical racism and police brutality in Columbus, GA in 1957. With no known photos of Pickett, I went for a collage style design, sourcing images, maps, and articles from the time to tell the story. The muted, limited color palette and textures were key in keeping the creating the tone of the hero image and YouTube thumbnails.

WABE Strong

Stickers and a t-shirt/poster design created after the slashing of government funding to public media. These designs were created to so they could be quickly and easily printed to be given out at upcoming social and fundraising events.

The City Lights Collective

The City Lights Collective is a podcast and radio show highlighting the arts and culture of Atlanta. The team was initially sent over a few ideas, but allowed me to create my own interpretation. I loved the idea of a city that comes alive at night with music and art with the "lights" coming from apartment windows. Three other additional options were pitched. Two final versions were made with the silhouetted Atlanta skyline being chosen as the final.
